Ashland Anvil's Information
Rating: 3 Stars
Location: 6093 Ashland Avenue
Atmosphere: Gay Bar
Upon entering the nightclub, there is a cattleyard queue "dog leg" of a bouncer station, attentively checking incoming patrons for ID and weapons. Once passing by the station surrounded by posters for local bands and "alternative lifestyle"-friendly businesses (including another club called 'Baton Show Lounge', among others), one finds oneself in the large single room of the Ashland Anvil.
To the immediate left are two pool tables, the only constantly well-lit space in the room. To the right are a few booths, half illuminated by the second-hand light from the other side. Further in, the bar runs along the left wall, the lighting indirect so the bartenders can see, but the patrons can drink and talk in limited bar-standard light, bathrooms at the far end sharing the same water-lines as the bar. The far right is occupied by the spacious dancefloor; although the flashing directional lights and big-screen TV are in that corner, the dancing and standing patrons often tend to spill out into the rest of the room (to the dismay of those wishing privacy or unspilled drinks) and its scattered tables.
The ceiling is high with black-painted steel rafters above, low-hanging fans giving a constant circulating breeze day or night, summer or winter.
